I am a second-year occupational therapy student. I love that occupational therapy prioritizes what is meaningful to the client and encourages therapists to work collaboratively with clients to reach their goals. In the future, I hope to work as an OT in the pediatric or inpatient neuro setting. In Karla’s lab, I primarily work on the non-human primate project. This project aims to characterize neurodevelopmental deficits caused by prenatal Zika virus exposure by assessing infant rhesus macaque motor skills, sensory processing, cognition, regulation, and gait development. For me, backpacking with close friends is a meaningful occupation, especially the part where you sit around the campfire and relax after a long day of hiking.
