We were fortunate to have Kayte Barton, a Special Olympics Athlete from Minnesota, be a part of our development team for READI, Research Engagement and Advocacy for Diverse Individuals. READI is a 4-day workshop that is run by our lab students. It is a how-to guide for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their caregivers to understand and get involved in research! READI covers various research topics, including what health research is, how to create a health story, the steps in the research process, and how to think like a researcher!
Kayte has put together a testimonial video to talk about her experience with READI. She enjoyed learning how to make research more efficient and effective as she advocates for more research on obesity, diabetes, and intellectual disabilities. We’ll let her tell you more about it herself in her video!
Take a listen!
